If you have paid any attention to the news this past week, you would know that ISIS has been a very popular subject. The news seems very interested in anything having to do with this terrorist group. Some sources have claimed that this group is the most dangerous group of terrorists there has yet to be. Many Americans want to know what action the US plans to take. As of now, we don't have a strategy, but the goal is to defeat ISIS before it can pose a threat to the US.

In the article attached, written by Jana Winter, she brings to the publics attention that ISIS is already showing an interest in the Southwest border of Mexico to carry out a terrorist attack by car bombs. Though The Department of Homeland Security and the FBI claim that they are unaware of any specific, credible threat, the Texas law enforcement bulletin has leads on people possibly in this group making comments on social media about interest in the border. Either way, I would say that the US should take precautions.

You read that right. They are coming... or so predicts Saudi king Abdullah ibn Abdilazīz. The king said "If neglected, I am certain that after a month they will reach Europe and, after another month, America." He is speaking of ISIS, the terrorists organization who are making the news for beheading non Muslim extremists and giving their heads to children to play with. 

Now personally I think they won't be getting near us. This guy is just trying to scare you and hype it up the same way I did in my amazing headline. We don't need to worry about the terrorists coming here at all. If they are too afraid to e-mail each other about terrorist attacks because of the NSA (a fact I picked up from my friends over at CNN Student News) then they aren't proud enough of their power, and they are too much of chickens to act on it.

Christine R. Yano, an anthropologist at the University of Hawaii recently "discovered" that Hello Kitty is actually a little girl! She is not a cat. Not only is she a little girl, she is a British little girl. LA Times shared the shocking news and it has perplexed Sanrio fans world wide. People don't think it is fair that for 40 years she was considered to be cat, but suddenly is a little girl. Hello Kitty is depicted to be a little girl because, she walks on two legs (instead of four), sits like a human, and even has a pet cat of her own!

Hilary Whiteman, the article's author, should have probably been focusing on more important matters, like war or the economy; although, the case about Hello Kitty suddenly becoming a girl is pretty shocking. I had heard that Hello Kitty had suddenly "come out of the kitten closet", but I didn’y know people were this upset. I have always been a Hello Kitty fan but I don't think I am as passionate about it as most. Hello Kitty has been around since 1974, so for her species to suddenly change, is a little disappointing. The audience this article is aimed toward is very girly and not very conscientious of the actual problematic problems around the world. However, this is a pretty serious conflict. The situation the article is talking about shows that things can change so abruptly, even if something has been around for so long. This goes along to say that everything changes at some point. If it didn't change, we'd all be bored out of our minds! Hello Kitty has impacted little girls all around the world, and now is impacting them again (this time with a species change). 

Australia to be involved with war in Iraq by Jesse Dale

Australian prime minister Tony Abbott states that the United States has asked Australia to help aid in against Iraq with military equipment, such as guns and ammunition. They will also be joining other countries helping the U.S. with support and equipment. They could get there within days.

America asking other countries to aid them in war sounds like it's the beginnings of a World War III. The U.S. doesn't need to get other countries involved because that just makes war that isn't necessary, as every other war, become larger and larger until eventually the whole world is in on it and the whole world is at war. America started the war on Iraq, for no particularly good reason I might add, and we should be the ones to end it, not creating drama with everyone else.

In New York City, New York, a teenager named Samuel Shepard lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a guardrail. This incident tragically ended with his death. There was also a passenger in the vehicle named Michael Power, who manged to make it out of the situation alive. Shepard was planning to serve in the military after he graduated from high school. "He knew exactly what he was going to do," his father told the paper.

My analysis on this situation is that no matter how excited you are about driving a certain vehicle, you must always drive safely. Obeying traffic laws is crucial in these types of situations, especially in the busy streets of New York. It's a tragedy how many people have lost their lives in car accidents/vehicle accidents. It goes to show how important red lights and stop signs actually are.

Community of 230 Orthodox Jewish people forced out of Guatemalan village last Wednesday by Vern Blossfeld

Summary: A community of 230 Orthodox Jewish people are leaving the Guatemalan Indian village they've lived in for six years. There have been claims and counterclaims of threats against the Jewish population living there, and after a meeting Wednesday during which Jewish and indigenous representatives failed to reach an agreement about the alleged discrimination, the majority of the Jewish population of the village has decided to leave. Approximately half of the Jewish population moving are children. Misael Santos, representing the Jewish community, told New Vision news that he and others had received threats from the community, even of lynching if they did not leave. The Council of Indigenous Elders accused the Jewish population in the village of "wanting to impose their religion" and undermining the Catholic faith that most of the indigenous people follow.
Analysis: All of these accusations appear to just be that; accusations. There wasn't any proof in the article that the Jewish people had been "imposing" their religion on the indigenous people. It all seems very anti-Semitic, and 230 Jewish people are losing their homes because of this anger over religion. Even the news article seems to imply that the Jewish people are in the wrong here, which is very skewed, seeing as they're the ones being threatened with lynching.

Russia invading Ukraine

Ukraine was invaded by Russian troops who helped aid pro Russian rebels. Russia denies these claims of the invasion but satellite images provide evidence that the Russian troops were indeed invading Ukraine and helping the rebels. The Ukrainians believe this is an invasion in order for Russia to take control of their country. Many powerful and influential political figures agree that Russia's military actions against Ukraine must stop immediately.

I agree with many of the political figures that Russia must stop their invasion of Ukraine.The invasion of Ukraine must stop because Russia is becoming a threat to other nations . Russia's military actions provide evidence that Russia wants to take control of Ukraine for economic and political opportunities. If Russia and their troops are not stopped they could invade other countries and acquire more power and soldiers posing a threat to the world, which could start a world war III.
