A judge in Colorado sentenced the Aurora Movie theatre killer thousands of years in jail and quite a hefty number of life terms because of the 12 people he killed and the 70 people he tried to kill, but just hurt. Holmes, the killer, is 27 years old and a former graduate student--he received one life term for each dead victim and 3,318 years in prison for trying to kill all the people he wounded/having explosives in his apartment complex. After Holmes recieved the sentence, the judge confessed to his intention: that Holmes were to never set foot in normal society ever again and that he deserves no sympathy.
The Aurora Movie theatre massacre is truly a horrific event and Holmes deserves every year he will serve in prison. I do disagree with the judge when he said that Holmes deserves no sympathy though. Holmes obviously has some major issues and I feel sorry for him because of that--he could have lived a normal and comfortable life, but instead he chose to be a mass murderer.
