Firefighter killed in 6-alarm fire

This morning a firefighter was killed and two more were injured at a 6-alarm fire call in the Hearthwood North Condominium. The firefighter that was killed is Stanely Wilson, who is actually a family friend of mine. His family used to go to church with us for many years, however they left about two, three years ago. I remember that Stan was always at attention, standing straight up with shoulders back, but even though he may look intimidating he was the nicest, funniest guy. The whole family is wonderful and Stan is survived by his mom, Nell, wife, Jenny and his two sons Noah, and Luke. Stan's unit was called out to the fire, during the process of trying to put it out and keep it from spreading Stan got trapped. They believe that he was in one of the hallways when it collapsed in and he was trapped. He radioed in shortly before 5:30 a.m and said that he was trapped and didn't know where he was. That was the last they heard as his radio went dead after that. About 3-4 hours later they finally found his body in the wreckage and carried him out draped in the flag as his fellow firefighters saluted him. Stan was a great man, and a strong Christian. He died a hero, fighting to save others lives, not worrying about his own. I know that this is part of God's plan somehow but my heart still cries for the family that he had to leave behind. My prayers go to the Wilsons in this time of sadness and to the families of the two injured firefighters. God bless you Stan Wilson for serving your country.
