Aurora Movie Theatre Massacre: Samantha Arthur (1st period)

A judge in Colorado sentenced the Aurora Movie theatre killer thousands of years in jail and quite a hefty number of life terms because of the 12 people he killed and the 70 people he tried to kill, but just hurt.  Holmes, the killer, is 27 years old and a former graduate student--he received one life term for each dead victim and 3,318 years in prison for trying to kill all the people he wounded/having explosives in his apartment complex. After Holmes recieved the sentence, the judge confessed to his intention: that Holmes were to never set foot in normal society ever again and that he deserves no sympathy.

The Aurora Movie theatre massacre is truly a horrific event and Holmes deserves every year he will serve in prison. I do disagree with the judge when he said that Holmes deserves no sympathy though. Holmes obviously has some major issues and I feel sorry for him because of that--he could have lived a normal and comfortable life, but instead he chose to be a mass murderer.

Protests Over Beirut's Garbage Crisis Continues by Savannah Boyack

http://www.wsj.com/articles/protests-over-beiruts-garbage-crisis-continue-1440631026?tesla=y

There have been daily protests over the past week about the extensive amount of garbage piled on to the streets of Beirut. The garbage collection has been accumulating and worsening for some time now causing the protests to turn violent over the weekend.

I think this is a very serious issue that shouldn't have even gotten this far in the first place. Beirut should not even need a protest to see that trash gathering on the streets of the capital is not good. It causes serious health problems and is just plain horrible to live around. You would think that we would have all grown civilized enough to know that we need to clean up our own waste. I hope this gets sorted out soon.

African bombings continue by Londyn Alexander pd:9

http://www.cnn.com/2014/12/11/world/africa/nigeria-violence/index.html?hpt=wo_c2

A bomb explosion occurred in central Nigeria killing 32 citizens. The area in which it occurred has been known to have frequent violent actions occur. Most of this happening between Nigerian troops and known African terrorist groups. In addition numerous kidnappings of women and children occur, and along with bombings of schools. As of recently there have been no claims of who the bomber was.

Suicide bombings are always very disheartening events. Since this has occurred before, possibly higher  security measures can be taken. Possibly guards can be set up to ensure the protection of the citizens.Or maybe a bag check before items are brought into the market.I feel taking precautions like these can really make a difference.

America vs North Korea the race continues by Londyn Alexander pd:9

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/09/world/asia/us-north-korea-detainees-released/index.html?hpt=wo_c2

Two Americans have recently been freed back to America, after their imprisonment in North Korea. The duo landed in a joint base in Washington. The two were greeted by emotional relatives and friends, when they exited of the plane. They are reportedly the last captives from the US being held.

I'm glad that all prisoners are now returned home and safe. I personally am not aware of the actions that led to their imprisonment, but absolutely feel the reparations were extreme. As a nation we've proved ourselves, especially since Obama wrote a letter directly addressing Kim Jong Un. Although these actions did not help the feud between the two countries. They were necessary and benefited the American society.

Rick Santorum Releases Theme Song For Upcoming Election by Jackson Scoggins

Rick Santorum released on Wednesday his official announcement to run for president as the Republic candidate in 2016. He did so by releasing this patriotic song.

Now I am not trying to get in any debate about politics, but this is propaganda. Regardless over whether its propaganda for the correct candidate or what not doesn't matter.

The song starts off with a man asking...

"Isn't it time to take back America?"

Take back? Who are we taking it back from? I am an American. Does someone NON-AMERICAN have control of MY Country?

"Isn't it time to take back the pride?"

Wait. So this man, woman, or organization that currently has America isn't proud of our country? I love my country. Are they not proud of our rights?

"Open our eyes, and take back America."

Well goodness my eyes have been closed this whole time apparently! How did what all is happening!

"This is the way,"

You mean voting for Rick Santorum?

"changing the tide."

The tide must be changed!

"Isn't it time?

Yes! Yes it is! U-S-A! U-S-A!

Now here is another song.

This song starts off with...

"Germany! Awake from your nightmare!"

I had been in a nightmaric state recently. How do I awake from it?

"Give foreign Jews no place in your Reich!"

Well if it stops this nightmare I'm living, by all means!

"We will fight for your resurgence!"

Thank you! Thanks so much dear patriotic Nazi Soldier!

"Aryan blood shall never perish"

I'm an Aryan! Happy I will have no negative repercussions of this war.

Point is propaganda is propaganda. It's what you do with it that matters.

Muslim Woman Gets Harassed on Plane by Jackson Scoggins

On Friday Tahera Ahmad was on United Airlines flight. She was having a very good flight. The flight attendant was going around asking passengers what they would like to drink. Ahmad asked for a Diet Coke. // Sounds good so far right? // The flight attendant brought her a Diet Coke. The can was opened. Ahmad asked for an unopened on for hygienic reasons // I mean hey who knows where that DC has been. // The flight attendant said that she can't give unopened cans to passengers because they might be used as weapon, "so not diet coke for you." // Okay. Rude. But whatever. Lets go on. // The flight attendant then brought another man (assumed to be caucasian) a can of unopened beer. // Oh no. // Ahmad was upset since this man got a can of unopened beer. The attendant quickly grabbed it and opened it. Ahmad was furious. She asked the people around her if they saw and heard correctly. A man across the aisle yelled "You Muslim. You need to shut the fuck up." He looked Admad in the eyes and then said "Yes you know you would use it as a weapon so shut the fuck up" // dammit. // Nobody said anything to the man. Ahmad just cried.

This is a case of Islamaphobia in todays modern society. I wrote about this in my current events project. Islamic people have to put up with this stuff so much because of what happened on September 11th. They didn't hijack those planes. Nor would they. Islam is very peaceful religion that unfortunately has some followers who misinterpret it. Its the same as how the majority of Christians would not want the Westboro Baptist Church to represent who they are and what they stand for.

6,000 ghost towns: Italy migrant by Londyn Alexander pd: 9

http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/26/opinions/ghost-towns-migrants-italy/index.html

Italy has recently been struggling with a "migrant" issue.  Lampseuda a small island of the country is located by the African territory Libya, allowing many of Libya's civiillians to travel illegally to the island. The numerous migrants travel by sea earning themselves the nickname "boat people," the mode of transportation resulting in the deaths of migrants.  To solve this issue the Italian government has decided to allow them to live it's 6,000 ghost towns that date back to pre-roman times. The Migrants could potentially increase agriculture, new shops, and increase tourism, having an overall positive impact on italian society.

I think Italy's response to the migrant crisis is very smart and logical. The Ghost towns have not been put to use in over a century, and this is a great us of them. I do hope that the migrants to support the country as a sort of repayment do to the mass amount of Libyan population who came over. In conclusion the solution they decided on has multiple pros as well as cons.

Main command to Terrorist group by Londyn Alexander pd: 9

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/06/world/general-isis/index.html?c=world

ISIS has issued another threat. Claiming they" can hear" the U.S military. The Army General made these statements Thursday with the Atlantic council. Who seemed confident saying the previous airstrike launches by the US are having the desired effects. The General Also revealed our countries motives behind the attacks.

It's timely that the United States is having the advantage right now. I'm also very relieved, and proud that we can longer be greatly effected by their threats. In addition I believe ISIS will fall in the near future. This assumption is due to the increasingly
Pleasent news, of American airstrikes being a success. This turn of events has broadcasted our country and shown the US in a positive light.

The Women Of ISIS- Londyn Alexander pd:9

http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/29/middleeast/who-are-the-women-of-isis/index.html

The victims are suspected to be over 550 women lured into the ISIS terrorist group their
bases were located in Northern Iraq.Government officials suspect motives
relate to a push for territory. Mosul Dam was also attacked by ISIS for control
over the Sinjar mountain range. Among these Peshmerga and Nineveh valley also
targeted. Peshmerga resulting in the death of six security force members, and
seven civilians in critical care. However Nineveh Valley was protected by
American and European ally forces.

The terrorist groups actions have become increasingly reckless and destructive.
It is apparent now that American involvement is almost necessary, the previous
events acting as an omen for ISIS to threaten the United States. Proper action
needs to be taken soon, but an attack on their forces is not the ideal method.
Coming to a conclusion I feel the government needs to provide a solution
quickly, in order for America to remain the land of the free.

Sex trade goes underground in China's 'sin city' by Mlynn

http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/25/asia/china-sin-city/index.html

This article talks about the sex slaves in china. For example a business man who takes his clients to a karaoke bar with special "services". Recently, it is becoming difficult for these people to get away with it. Especially in Dongguan which is labeled as China's "sin city". Thousands of people were arrested. The raids lasted several months and their impact is still being felt more than a year later. Now, they are trying to make the process more underground. I am proud of the gov for cracking down on these horrible people. These women are treated like slaves and forced into prostitution. All of the people involved should go to jail 5 ever.

Report: German grandmother, 65, gives birth to quadruplets by Mlynn

http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/24/europe/germany-grandmother-quadruplets/index.html

A german grandmother gave birth to 4 children. This adds to the 13 she already had. She is the oldest woman to ever do this at age 65. The babies were delivered by sea section and are doing swell today!! I think this is absolutely horrifying. I think it will be hard for the kids to have a mom who is already so old. They will have to live a lot of their life without a mother and that is sad.

Ancient jawbones put new species on the human family tree, researchers say, by Mlynn!

http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/28/africa/ethiopia-fossil-hominin-ancestor/index.html

When jawbones and teeth were discovered in Ethiopia, it left people wondering if this could be a new species. "there are sufficient differences in the jaw architecture and size and shape of the teeth to mean that this is a new species, indicating that our ancestry is more complicated than previously thought", says a researcher working on the project. It shows that  that several hominin species coexisted during this period. The word "hominin" is used to refer to human species. This discovery has created a lot of discussion on the topic. I think this is dope!!!!!

Transplant recipient meets sister of man who gave him a new face

http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/29/health/face-transplant-sister-encounter/index.html

To recive a new face,  Richard Norris had to receive an actual face. Someones death is the reason that he got a new face. Recently, he met the sister of the man who's face he had. The article talks about how grateful Norris is and his interactions with the woman. I think this was a horrifying situation but I am glad that Richard can feel normal again. I honestly didn't know this was something that was possible. I don't know if I would want someone else's face if I was in the same situation.

China to explore 'dark side' of the moon by M'Lynn Musgrove

http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/21/asia/china-moon-exploration-dark-side/index.html

In a CNN article, by Katie Hunt, China is considering landing a spacecraft on the moon's "dark side" in 2020. If they succeed, they would be the first country to do so. They have already landed a spacecraft on the moon in 2013. This would be their next step. US is worried that they will be a leader in the space race.
I think the United states needs to step up our space game!!!!

Chinese astronaut calls for cooperation, access to International Space Station by MLynn

http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/28/asia/china-space-mckenzie/index.html

In an article in CNN, China is beginning to leap ahead in the space race. They are asking other nations, like the US to participate. Fifteen nations including the United States, Russia and Japan cooperate on International Space Station missions, but China has no involvement because of resistance from the US. An space analysts said "There is tremendous skepticism there about China. It is viewed as a foe, it is viewed as a government that seeks to take our intellectual property -- our national secrets and treasure."
I think that it is valid for the us to resist China's request.

SO TOMORROW LAND WASNT A HIT .. WELL WHAT DID YOU EXPECT mariela lomeli

that one movie about this girl  who finds a pin or something that makes you go somewhere special that is not realistic but" magical". so guess whose in it . yess  Goerge Clooney. well the only reason that thy put him in there because he is big with the drama about actually getting married at the age of don't know /110 years . but then there are rumors that he is now getting divorced from his lawyer wife who is definitely younger than him. why does it look bad when a woman goes out with a man who is younger than her but not so looked down upon when its a man dating a younger woman. what is the human phycology in that? well its probably just in human nature. to all the ladies out there would you date someone who is younger than you? honestly I think that movie is just cool in graphics not in plot. and plot is important.

so its summer but theres still snow in boston.??!1 mariela lomeli

The 75ft mound of snow has reduced to a 3 story high pile of dirt and trash. whoah how pleasing. they say/ idont know whoo exactly/ that theres still a bike and a five dollar bill incrusted in the filthy snow.its like a science experiment waiting to happen. I don't know it would just seem to me that it is just a big block of broadness and disturbance. so far they have pulled 85 tons 0f debris because you know they want to clean before it malts. people say it will stay there even if summer is right ariund the corner. it will just not go. just like when you are wearing a shirt and a bra but the bra strap doesn't want to stay in place but slide off the shoulder to be exposed to the public, but then who looks like a whore now...aha.

LOST LEONARDO DICATRIO CAT FOUND BY FLORIDA POLICEMEN mariela lomeli

so yeah some stupid little kids lost their cat. ( if that would have been me I wouldn't have lost it) and were crying about it.. Get over it. the lady who was the owner looks like my friends mom but with brown hair. the cat looks like Garfield but without the fat.okkay so the cat doesn't even have a tail. what inhumane person would do such a thing. you just don't do that. a cat needs its tail to balance itself .. these people just want to see the world burn. to be honest the cat did look cute without its tail. it kind of looked like a bobcat. so apparently the FBI found the cat and contacted the lady through Facebook. so yeah social media helps . yees I know globalization .. the pros and the cons. pollution versus cultural diffusion. you gotta pick and I guess we have picked destroying the world. no big deal...

BLACK HOLE spotted by scientist ... mariela lomeli

so what.. " I thught black hole were invisible" well shut up and stop being so ignorant. anything can happen. two blogs of plasma have been shot by two black holes as if they were playing catch but in outer space .. duhh. the black hole sits in the heart of the 6th brietghest galaxy in the universe,,,,;0
something like this has never been seen before. well you know what maybe if you stopped whining and stuff and actualy  opened your eyes you would see. maybe you need glasses. I don't know . I don't know you ... I don't want to know you. anyhow, did you know that the hubble telescope has been in orbit for more than 20 years wow . I didn't even know that and im look to( WTF WHO MISPELLS TOO) smart for  school. ughgh who was that talking there? they seem obserdedly permissions. whatever we don't care . wait what we?.> GET OUTY/??!

what does the U.S want with FIFA... they want to be FIFA .....mariela lomeli

so they are getting a global game that is turning out to be a scandal. People are just asking themselves why this is happening because U.S doesn't even like football. There are now officials looking upon the matter because come on! Football doesn't matter in the U.S. I guess the U.S cant stand others doing what it is not. such a follower. I swear there's a limit to things and that surpasses the limit. Concacaf have been in trouble in the past as it didn't pay its taxes. But then again football is a world sport that can be done by anybody. America has American football and I guess people don't like the change to progression.

A French airplane, Air France Flight 953, a Boeing 777, went off course to avoid storms in Africa and almost was hit with a volcano. This incident is very serious and they had to stop early.
