Attorney General, Sarah Yates, was fired Monday January 30, 2017 after refusing to take further action on the travel ban which Trump has recently enforced through an executive order. Shortly after her resignation US Attorney, Dana Boente, was sworn in as new Attorney General. The White House Statement claimed that "Yates has betrayed the Department of Justice", while other government members such as Elijah Cummings applauded her for standing up for what she believed in. It personally makes me sad that we have come to a point in which our own government has become so against some of our own policies that they would rather risk their entire political career or position in the US Government than take part in what they believe is wrong. The point of division has even gone within our own government, not just the people.

I believe that she did the right thing. You should stand up for what you believe in and let your voice be heard. Don't keep quiet and let others overpower you. I think people should be open for what everyone has to say.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely wrong to be fired just because you don't share the same opinion as another. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
