234 More Women And Children Rescued From Stronghold - Trent Hagar

234 more women and children were rescued from Boko Haram militant stronghold. These women and children were a part of a mass abduction that took place there in April.
I think that it is good that Nigeria is handling the situation well, however it is scary that things like mass abductions can even happen. Research should be done based off of this event in order to further predict similar events in the future.

Another Baltimore Shooting!? Really!? Trevor Walker
Police deployed in force in a flashpoint neighborhood of Baltimore on Monday amid erroneous claims that officers had shot a young black male. Officers in riot gear fanned out across the intersection of North and Pennsylvania avenues, and witnesses said pepper spray was used on bystanders. Rumors swirled in mid-afternoon that police had shot - perhaps fatally - a young African-American man who was seen running away from pursuing officers. But on Twitter, the Baltimore police department said reports of a man being shot were "not true."
This is just terrible, the police have got to know that they need to be extra careful about what they do. Especially now that those riots have been put down. However, if the police say that a man fired on them, they're gonna shoot back! That'so what they're supposed to do. Baltimore citizens can' the overreacting about police when the suspect was in the wrong.

At 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 3rd, shots were fired outside of the Cutis Culwell Center of Garland. The two shooters were identified as Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi by officials and were shot and killed outside of the center by a traffic officer with nothing more than a service pistol against body armor and assault rifles. Officials believe the purpose of the two mens' act of violence was to attack the 200 people in the event center, who were hosting a cartoon convention that featured a controversial illustration mocking the Prophet Muhammad. However the two men were unable to get past the two guards, with only one armed with the other shot in the ankle. The two guards killed the men in fear of further endangerment to the people in the event center. Officials have linked the shooting to ISIS because of a tweet made earlier by Elton Simpson pledging his allegiance to ISIS on social media. Authorities believe that although the two pledged an allegiance to ISIS, ISIS did not plan the attack. Rather, the two, from Phoenix, Arizona, heard about the contest and planned to attack those who participated in the controversial illustration to enact revenge.
I was startled at how close this event was to home. You only hear about these terror attacks on the news in other countries, and even states. The whole incident seemed pretty unstable and unplanned, and really just something that appeared at the spur of the moment. Officials are still not sure as to what the full motive was and the attacks purpose, but are looking for more clues at the mens' apartments in Phoenix, Arizona.

Deadly Earthquake By: Emma Wall
The article discusses the tragic earthquake in Nepal. There is debris everywhere along with mourning families and lost loved ones. There is a video that is attached to the article that briefly illustrates the aftermath of the disaster in Nepal. The people interviewed villagers about the tragedy and they also investigated the remains. They stated that the villagers were in need of aid. While they were there, the mountain shook and startled running villagers.
This is unreal. I always here stories about earthquakes and I always see pictures and videos from the aftermath, but it is still so shocking to me to see. So many people have lost loved ones and so many houses have been destroyed that it makes you wonder how hard this must be on them. I would never hope this upon anyone.

A 10 year old was raped, and a as a result, got pregnant. The Latin American government is refusing to allow an abortion. she was allegedly rapes by her step father, and the government won't let her terminate the pregnancy for "moral reasons"
This is a very crazy situation to me. A 10 year old being a mother is absolutely ridiculous to me. A 10 year old can't even fully process the responsibility of being a parent. The government needs to change their mind, or else this will be terrible.

No Protest for Swedish Neo-Nazis by William Perry Esping

Every May 1st the local group of Neo Nazi's has thier racist protest and every year it gets violent. City officials last year were trying to make sure another violent protest doesn't brake out. In Sweden in order to protest something you need to apply for a protest permit. City officials debated denying the Nazi's permit, but feared a violent retaliation. The mayor cam up with a great plan. He managed to get every public place place booked for something on May 1st so that the Swedish Neo-Nazi's had no where to go for their annual May Day protest.
This is a step forward in getting Sweden more diversity tolerant. The Swedes had legalized same-sex marriage before many of the other European nations and even some around the world (even some U.S. states)
