Many Indians feel the disturbing obsession with fairness is compounded by westernization. Interest reignites after Nina Davaluri, of Indian descent, was crowned Miss America. Many Indians go to get there skin whiten. Women and men have in store products to lighten the skin., like a white cream product. Some parents even force their children to stay inside because of the sun. People say that India needs someone like Oprah Winfrey to do for Indian women what the star did for black women in America - to make Indians proud of their culture, their heritage, their looks.
I think that this is crazy how they don't like the way they are born. I think that they shouldn't try to get whiter or darker they should just stay the way they are. Everyone is beautiful no matter what size, shape, or color!! I hope someone brave like Oprah Winfrey will stand up and help India.

typhoon in philippines…. with some relief
The Philippines, where some of my family is from, got hit by Typhoon Haiyan. One of Don't get too teary because there is some good news, too. America has donated $20 million in order to help the Philippines some relief. Other countries are starting to help out, too. Philippinos who live in America have used Facebook and other parts of the internet in order to help. I am truly shocked about this typhoon, but I'm glad there's some help on the way.
Jellyfish are taking over! JULIA WOLTJEN
SUMMARY: In recent polls jellyfish have been seen more and more often. Their stings are making a big impression and some say that they won't go to certain beaches because of them. Scientists say the rapid increase is caused by the changing temperatures in the oceans. Not only has their presence been felt in oceans, but also in fisheries and even at a nuclear plant. The said jellyfish were blocking an intake forcing the workers to shut down.
ANALYSIS: Nobody likes jellyfish stings and their increased presence most likely contributes to more stings. I don't think anything serious should be done, i mean just put up a net where they aren't wanted and should be fine. People are probably over reacting but just look out and be aware of your surroundings.

Typhoon Haiyan: Survivors in Philippines face grim struggle as death toll rises
Summary:
Survivors search in devastation through the wreckage of their homes searching for loved ones who may be buried beneath. others are on desperate need of food and water in areas littered with corpses. Three days after Super Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest storms in recorded history, roared across the central Philippines, people here are struggling to grasp the enormity of what they have lost and the challenges they face. Thousands of houses have been destroyed leaving many areas still cut off from transport, communications and power. Some officials say that as many as 10,000 people may have been killed with numbers expected to rise. "There are too many people dead," said Richard Gordon, chairman of the Philippine Red Cross. "We have bodies in the water, bodies on the bridges, bodies on the side of the road." The need for food and water has led to increasingly desperate efforts. People have broken into grocery and department stores in Tacloban. For the devastated areas of the Philippines, the bad weather may not be over. The national weather agency, Pagasa, said Monday a tropical depression was moving toward the southern part of the country. Far weaker than Haiyan, the weather system is likely to affect mainly the islands of Mindanao and Bohol, which didn't suffer direct hits by the typhoon. But it could bring wind and heavy rain to Tacloban and the surrounding area, making conditions even more hazardous. "This disaster on such a scale will probably have us working for the next year," said Sandra Bulling, international communications officer for the aid agency CARE. "Fishermen have lost their boats. Crops are devastated. This is really the basic income of many people." This storm not only left the people hurt physical but also mentally.
Analysis:
This storm is just too horrible to put into words. I can only imagine the amount of devastation being faced in the Philippines . I know crew members are doing everything in their power to bring things back to the way they were. My prayers go out to everyone struggling and in desperate need of food and water, and I hope that everyone facing this horrible tragedy will eventually have a place they can once again call home.

School event gone wrong by: Shadden Hashem
Hundreds of teachers from Paraguay were accused of dancing with male strippers at an April Retreat for teachers. Videos were taken from this event and were shown to CNN affiliate Telefuturo. This was an event on a day off from school used to discuss lesson plans and such, but didn't go as planned.
This isn't something you typically hear about. I hope they talk some sense into these teachers and find out who allowed something like this to happen at an official education event.

Don't Save Him - Max Gaddis
http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/bestoftv/2013/11/06/nr-live-jackson-police-tase-father-who-tried-to-save-son-from-fire.cnn.html
A man in Louisiana, Missouri woke up when his house was on fire and ran outside, forgetting his step-son inside. When he tried to go back inside to save his child, police stopped him, tased him, handcuffed him, and put him in the back of the police car while him 3-year old son burned to death. These policeman and firefighters say they were trying to protect him from going within the home and also dying, but why didn't they go in themselves to get the son? Or did they not care?
I think that they should've let the man go back inside because at least if he died, he would've died with his child instead of living with the regret of losing his child.
Sex Trafficing ring brought to justice By:Madelyn Winkelman
Spanish police have arrested 25 people from Madrid, Toledo, Cantabria, and Palma de Mallorca that are involved in a Nigerian sex trafficking ring. The women involved where promised jobs and expensive goods if they came to Europe. The women who decided to come traveled with fake passports to Mexico or Brazil, and then flown to Paris; and from Paris they where smuggled over to Spain. Police say that the sex trafficking gang was formed over twenty years ago in Nigeria and that 8/25 people that where arrested are illegal immigrants in Spain.
This enrages me to such a high extent! These poor woman where tricked, smuggled, and then kidnapped into a sex trafficking ring to never be seen again. And what's even worse is that the same happens to little girls and boys across the world! The United States is no exception! Sex Trafficking is a huge problem that needs to be brought everyone's attention. Not only are people tricked and or kidnapped into this life imprisonment, but sometimes woman and children are sold into this disgusting form of abuse by parents or "loved ones".
