Eric Garner By Ayanna Evans

On July 17,2014,  Eric Garner was killed by NYPD under a choke hold claiming to be a headlock. New York Police Department claims that the choke hold is prohibited and they are not to use it under any circumstances.It was said that Garner was selling individual illegal cigarettes (Loosies). After Garner said that he was not,yet  police proceeded to arrest him anyway.Garner then  moved his arm away and police proceeded to put him in a choke lock and began the struggle to the ground. Once the police got him face down on the ground, Garner repeated that he could not breathe as the police pushed his face into the hard cement. Once Garner was unconscious, the ambulance arrived to take him to the hospital. Garner was pronounced dead after 1 hour of being at the hospital.






I think this is just another situation where the police are doing the most. I don't think they needed 5 policemen for one man who wasn't fighting them back, i think what they did was intentional. I also believe that once Garner repeated that he could not breathe they should have released him from the choke hold, but still kept him on the ground. I think the police are honestly aggressive against the wrong people instead of people who are actually causing harm to this world.
