European Teenagers Traveling to Syria to Join Jihadist Groups by Bella Dekhtyar

Recently, three teenagers in London have been arrested under suspicion of terror offenses. In fact, it's been too common in Europe lately that teens are traveling to Turkey to join jihadist groups; a jihad is a muslim militant in struggle against unbelievers. Europeans have grown weary about the teens traveling through Turkey to get to Syria and create more violent crimes. Turkish officials complained saying that they were not given enough warning about the runaway teens. However, Turkey has also been criticized about not guarding its borders successfully and not preventing people from using Turkey as a way to cross into Syria. The three detained teens have been taken back to a police station in London; Europe's citizens are worried about allowing the violent teens back into Europe in fear of further terror attacks.

What I don't understand is why the young teens have decided to join such an extreme group, and how they managed to come this far. It seems that border patrol needs to become stricter and the teens should be further questioned for the reason behind their actions.
