Janette Davalos :: Deadly Stampede at Ethiopia Protest

Analysis: I feel that this is a negative article considering it was deadly. All these people were doing was having a religious festival, but why would dozens just die right then and there while a protest. This just shows how chaotic the world can be these days. Thanks to BBC news we can have a real life view of how terrifying the world can be. I feel like nobody pays attention to these kinds of things anymore cause we experience stuff like this every day.

Summary: On Sunday, October 2 BBC news put up an announcement about a stampede killing dozens of people in Ethiopia. It was said that during this religious festival a protest was occurring. A couple moments later a stampede of soldiers opened fire after the protesters did not cooperate. Many of the witnesses say that there "was about 300 people killed" and "that there were also helicopters shooting" as well.

  1. Wow i cant believe so many people died because of this. Its sad that people were just practicing what they believed in and suddenly got shot at. Hopefully Ethiopia can recover from this and no more similar events will happen.

  2. It's bad enough they couldn't practice there beliefs in piece but to die? There is no need to take it so far.

  5. That is a shocking amount of people that died. I agree that people need to start paying attention to these things, they just over look it because its "common"
