On Thursday, after being reported missing at sea on January 29, Louis Jordan was rescued by the Houston Express while drifting in the Atlantic Ocean for over two months. In January, Louis was off the coast of South Carolina while on his 35-foot fishing boat. The boat had suddenly flipped over, causing not only a shoulder injury, but also left him with a broken mast he was unable to fix, and no GPS or any other electronics. As he drifted off, the fisherman came to realize that it was now a matter of survival. He drank rain water collected in a bucket, and fished with nets. After a while, his shoulder healed, allowing him to forge a makeshift mast for his boat. The winds did not do much for speed and was slow. After finally being found 5 days ago, he was taken to a hospital where he was treated for his minor injuries. He has now reunited with his family and is doing fine.
It's so inspirational for someone to survive such intense conditions and come back. I think, despite some allegations for his story being untrue, that he fought well and hard for his life, and deserves to be home in the care of his family.
