Queen Elizabeth II Marks 65 Years as Queen - Mila Fisher

Queen Elizabeth was never meant to become Queen of Britain in the first place, but in 1936, that all changed. When her uncle, King Edward VIII abdicated the crown to marry Wallis Warfield Simpson, a US commoner, she found herself suddenly in line for the throne. With her father, George VI, as king she became Princess Elizabeth at the age of ten. It fell upon her shy stuttering father to run and inspire a country during World War II. But he was a smoker and in February 1952 he passed in his sleep while Elizabeth was in Kenya with her husband, Prince Philip. She came back to England a Queen and has been ruling with duty and dignity ever since.
This year she reaches 65 years of service to her country, and oh has she served them well. She has traveled more than a million miles, visited 120 countries and met 12 US Presidents. Now at 90 years of age, she is still ruling strong.
This woman has had a huge impact on not just England, but the world. Her elegance and dignity have upheld and persevered through her entire career. She is truly a Queen if there ever was one.

  2. The Netflix series, the Crown, is a great show that gives full detail of her first year in office as the Queen and how difficult it was for her considering she was never meant to be queen until a few more years or even a decade. Yet, she still managed to be one of the most powerful and inspiring women the world has ever known. God save the Queen.
