China, being the communist society that it is, has recently deemed religion among the four greatest threats to national ideological security. Due to this, the government is only allowing Buddhism to be practiced, so they can control values such as Confucianism. To enact their new goals, China seems to be taking a violent approach. Such examples would be crosses being forcibly removed. Overall, the Chinese people have found themselves in a difficult and saddening situation.
Having studied China recently in class, we are aware of the influence the Chinese government can have on its people. Mixing church&state and therefore preventing their people from practicing any religion they choose is against Natural Law. The people should be able to decide if they want to be Christian or not, without government influence.
I completely agree with you. It should be everyone's right to choose their own beliefs. It's not so easy in a communist era, though. The most important element to communism is control, which can be difficult to obtain with religion being everyone's priority (instead of the government).

ReplyDeleteI don't understand how people can think in that way. If the government is being defied by billions of people, there's probably a good reason for that and they should change their government, not that happiness of their own citizens.
