Nebraska Bans Death Penalty by Bella Dekhtyar

Nebraska is the first conservative state in 40 years that has banned the death penalty, a form of capital punishment. It now joins 18 other states in the abolishment, despite its republican roots. There is controversy that this was an unfair vote because the state governor's veto was defied. Many other states are still  debating on this issue, and whether it's humane or safer for the United States to abolish the death penalty.

I agree it seems harsh for the government to kill a guilty person/ group of people, but it's also what many people say a method of security for officials and the citizens. There is fear that if the law is abolished completely, crime will increase and overwhelm the government. However, there is a humane side who believes that a death sentence is no better than what the guilty party has done.
