Democrats want to bring attention to the lack of transparency in the Trump administration. During the Obama presidency, the records of visitors to the White House were made public. That is not the case under the Trump presidency. The Democrats are introducing the MAR-A-LAGO Act that would require the publication of visitor logs both at the White House and at Trump's Florida resort, which ironically goes by Mar-a-lago. Clearly a play on words that is meant to irritate President Trump. Democrats are well aware that this act will not pass due to the minority in Congress. However, it puts in the news the administrations lack of transparency and also highlights Trumps frequent visits to Mar-a-lago (He has been there 5 weekends and only been in office for approximately 2 months).
I think that it is great that the Democrats are bringing this to public attention. I believe any administration should be transparent and the citizens have the right to know who the president is meeting with. By introducing this act, people are more aware of this issue.

I remember when everyone was just joking about if Trump became president but now that it is actually here, it is kind of frightening. Luckily democrats have such a huge influence on social media so problems can still be taken care of.
ReplyDeleteI am just irritated that Trump is able to go play golf in Florida every other weekend without little to no confrontation, while God forbid President Obama takes a week off in Hawaii from the whole year. I'm glad the Democrats are trying to tighten their grip on the situation.
