"Some local media said the man was holding a protest, but according to the Sydney Daily Telegraph one of the police officers involved in the rescue said unlike similar incidents, this was not a protest climb but in fact a drunk man simply decided to climb the sails."

Well... he was pretty drunk, and I guess that these things just happen, and they probably always will because no matter how many laws you make or how many times you try to warn or teach people, crazy things like this will still happen.
