9/11 is not only a major scar on the hearts of all Americans, but is is one of the saddest and most horrifying events US History has ever known. We're just 15 years after the tragedy and even the slightest joke and comment is still considered inappropriate and insensitive. Especially when so many lives of innocent people were lost. But despite all of us knowing not to joke about such a serious topic it seems a small mattress company called "Miracle Mattress" in San Antonio, Texas didn't get the memo. The mattress company decided to have a sale saying, "What better way to remember 9/11 than with a twin tower sale?" Not only were they acting like it was a holiday, but the commercial got much worse.
After stating the details for their sale, two salesmen behind the lead saleswoman then fell into two towers made of mattresses that stood behind them during the entire commercial. The main saleswoman then acts horrified and then smiles to the camera and says "We'll never forget."
There is simply one thing I don't understand, how can anyone be okay with this sort of joke? Or how could the company be alright with advertising a sale in order to remember 9/11? Regardless of the fact that it is fifteen years after the the collapse of the twin towers and attack on the Pentagon and the attempted attack on the capital, there is still no excuse for the insensitive behavior of this company. Nor is it alright to make light of such a massacre of so many good people trying to help one another. That is something I'll never forget.

I agree with you on the fact that this commercial is very offensive. The producers of the commercial should have taken others feelings into consideration. It is never okay to joke about such a tragic event.
ReplyDeleteI actually have seen this commercial and that was NOT a good marketing idea. I have no clue who thought it would be a good idea to do that.
