Grayson Lesley - Milburn's Current Events #3

Dozens of people stuck in cable cars were rescued on Friday.

It was documented the people were dangling 12,000 feet in the air in the French Alps.
Three Children along with 33 other passengers were forced to stay in cabins after weather conditions and the incoming darkness caused the operation to actually get them down was halted late Thursday night.

The cable car ordeal began at around 4:30p.m. on Thursday when two cable cars croseed over each other. The cable cars became stuck leaving 1,100 people trapped. Frencha nd Italian helicopters were called in and they were able to get 65 people to safey. A few hours later, they were able to get 12 more people out.

Rescue workers continually made phone calls to ensure that the passegers knew about the safety equipment and what to do in an emergency. the last passengers were finally rescued early Friday morning.

I found this story and thought it was very interesting. I have never been in a cable car personaly but I can imagine being 12,000 feet above the ground would be quite scary.

  1. Wow, this is so interesting. Why did it fall and I wander what they were thinking about when all of this went done. I am blessed that we have people that would help and save these people and other people in general.

  2. Being afraid of heights, I can't even imagine being up in those cable cars...Especially for that long. I'm glad they got off safely.

  3. So did all the 1,100 people get saved? I think that this world is lucky to have people that choose the jobs that could risk their life to save others. Also they should've made a better system because the cable cars shouldn't run into each other even if they were running at the same time.
