Current Events: Kenya’s 3.8 Billion Dollar Railroad
Kenyans have high hopes for their new 3.8 billion dollar railroad that will connect Kenya to  6 other African countries. It will run over 300 miles long. China is helping fund this railroad, and it is the country’s biggest investment since their investment in independence. This railroad is a massive risk because it is 6% of Kenya’s GDP, so it is a controversial subject, but they are staying hopeful that they will be able to pay it back to the Chinese.
I think that it is great that the Chinese are helping Kenya with such a huge project. It is about time that parts of Africa become more industrialized after all of the war and poverty that has been going on over there. I can’t believe that this investment is as big as their independence and i really hope that this will lead to more opportunities that will allow them to pay off their debt.
