About 25 people were arrested in Moscow, Russia on New Year's Eve for trying to have a protest. The group, located at Triumphalnaya Square in central Moscow, got about 50-100 people to gather with them. For 2 years, the group has tried to gather on the 31st of every month, with that many days, to remind people of Article 31 of the Russian constitution, which gives them the freedom of assembly. One of the activists arrested, Eduard Limonov, wants other Russians to band together with him to acknowledge their rights. To him, 'Russia's fate "depends on our enthusiasm and labor."'
I think it's nice that this group is trying to exersize their right of assembly, but I feel they're making something out of nothing. What do they need to protest for if they already have it?
