Costa Concordia, One Year Later Post by: Addison Norman

Costa Concordia, One Year Later
Post by: Addison Norman

Today, January 13 marks a year since the Costa Concordia became halfway underwater. The cruise ship hit rocks and is still today in the water. Today, there is going to be a memorial Mass for the 32 passengers who lost their lives; the memorial includes a moment of silence and letting of 32 lanterns.
The Costa Concordia cannot be left in the water because it can be very harmful to the environment the surrounds the shipwreck. Many are working to remove the ship from the water. Divers and engineers have made plans to bring the ship back up to normal position, and then bring it to a port to be disassembled. Also, divers have been in search of 2 missing people who still after a year have not been found.
It is insane that the ship is still in the water. I think that it is incredible officials are making sure the environment is safe. It would be easy the take apart the ship in the water and forget about the environment. I hope their plans are smoothly accomplished.
