Nepalese Colonel Faces Torture Charges in UK Court by Corsica Steding

Kumar Lama, a Nepalese army colonel, is accused of two accounts of torture that happened during his country's civil war at army barracks in Nepal.  He will appear in British court on Saturday.  These offenses occurred between April and October of 2005. Lama serves under the U.N. Mission in Southern Sudan as a military observer.  Officers have searched his home and an investigation will be led.  Nepal requested that the British ambassador in Kathmandu to protest against the arrest on Friday.

Laura Smith-Spark wrote this article for CNN on January 5th.  Before reading this article, I knew that there has been cases of torture during war in the past.  This article was written to inform and update anyone who's interested.  If this army colonel really did torture people, I hope that his actions don't go unpunished.
