Srebrenica Massacre - Hannah Kalan

Back in 1995, the Bosnian town of Srebrenica was overrun by Serb forces. Now, nearly two decades after the tragic event of a massacre in which at least 6000 people were killed, those responsible are finally being put to face the consequences of their acts. Zdravko Tolimir was found guilty of genocide, the conspiracy of, and several other crimes in Srebrenica during the Yugoslavia war crimes tribunal. As many as 8000 people were murdered in Srebrenica alone, and tens of thousands dead over all, with hundreds of thousands without homes. Tolimir's trial had been one of twelve criminal proceedings, out of 161 people who were indicated by the Yugoslavian government for "serious violations of humanitarian law" during the country's so called "ethnic cleansing."

  2. This is terrible and disgusting; I can't believe thousands of people were murdered because of Tolimir's intolerance of people who are different from himself. Albert Einstein once said, "It's very depressing to live in a time where it's easier to break an atom than a prejudice", and I agree.
