In a tight race for No. 1 at the worldwide box office, Disney-Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” with its estimated $41.4 million domestically, eked out a victory over Fox’s newcomer “Rio 2,” which ended with a projected $39 million three-day Stateside opening.
This was a battle of the sequels and, honestly, I'm not surprised at the fact that Captian America came out on top in the end. The trailers were perfect and I think it had more publicity than Rio.
I loved Captain America. The first one came out on my birthday. I can't wait to go see it and I'm not really surprised that it beat Rio in the box office sales. Superheroes versus Animated movies. Not much of a challenge.
