On a Halloween cruise through the Bahamas, the passengers thought a large jolt on the boat was just a halloween joke, but it turned out to be something more. Catherine E. Shoichet writes about this frightening cruise that occurred friday night. Apperently the ship hit something. Once passengers realized it wasn't a joke, people began to panic. In reality, they weren't in any danger, but that didn't stop passengers from crying. The ship had to evacuate because of procedure even though they weren't in fact in any way of harm
I think the passengers could have reacted a little calmer in the situation. In bad times, its best if everyone stays calm and listens to the supervisors of the ship.
I understand completely how they were feeling. Our world doesn't have such good history when it comes to cruises. I'm glad that the crew of the ship did still take safety precautions and no one was hurt
ReplyDeleteIf I was a passenger on that ship, and I felt that lurch, I'd check if the power was out, and wait for someone to come over the intercom and say to evacuate or wait for some sort of official announcement from the "authorities" on the ship.
ReplyDeleteI can see how a situation like this can be misinterpreted as a joke. Still, even though people don't often know the safety precautions on a ship, it's still better not to raise so much panic.
