Child dies after being in hot car for 8 hours- Melanie Escalante

Troy Whitaker was charged Friday with aggravated manslaughter for leaving his 23 month old son in a hot pickup truck for 8 hours. Prior to the toddler being left in the truck, the Florida father had taken his 5 year old daughter to school that morning but forgot to drop his son off at daycare. Upon his arrival back home that day, he noticed his son in the back of the pickup. Whitaker performed CPR and later medical officials stepped in. However, the 23 month old boy could not be helped. In fact, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri reported that the boy had been dead a while before he was found, due to his high body temperature. I personally don't understand how you can leave your child in car, especially for such a long time. You would think the son would've called for his father as he was getting out of the car or something to that effect. Child safety should be taken more seriously and more action should be put in place. This boy was way too young to lose his life due to his father's stupidity and I wish such tragedies wouldn't happen in this world we've come to know today.

  2. This is insane. I would like to know how old this man is. This is a very childish act, and he if he were a loving father, he would've known to not leave his son in the car. Hopefully he gets the punishment he deserves

  4. This makes me really sad. So many parents have left their young children in hot cars. They should be more responsible.

  5. People need more responsibility when it comes to children, if you're mature enough to have sex, you should be mature enough to care for your child... just sayin.
