The first (and only) president of Uzbekistan dies. His name is Islam Karimov and he lead the country for 25 years, which means he became president in 1989. After his second year in office he declared the country's independence. the country never doubted Karimov because he always lead his country in the right direction, such as causing peaceful foreign polices with central Asia. He did many other things that helped and benefitted the country. But on September 2, 2016, they said he past away from having a stoke.
I think it is so sad that this happened to Ubekistan and to Karimov's family, but he left a good legacy that the new president will hopefully keep up. What do you think about how he impacted the country, did you think that is why the country is doing well now?
