Jozzelyn Alejandro Current Event 2

North Korea fired three ballistic missiles Monday morning, according to South Korea's military. The missiles were fired around Hwangju county, in North Hwanghae province. The US said it "strongly condemns" the multiple launches, which came at a unfortunate time for North Korea's only real ally, China, who is the host of the G20 summit in Hangzhou. The launches also came hours after Chinese President Xi Jinping told a South Korean counterpart at the G20, that Beijing opposes of the United States' THAAD missile defense system to South Korea. The sole purpose of the THAAD system is to help defend South Korea from missile attack from the North, but Beijing views it as an attempt to manipulate power to divert to the US.

I personally believe that we have no idea what the motive behind the launch was. It may be purely a coincidence that the missies launched after China's president announced that, but it also may be completely intentional. I think before everyone goes and makes assumptions over something, we should think it through and look at every point of view.

  1. It's definitely worrisome that North Korea unpredictably fires three missiles, especially with no clear motive. I agree that this is not something to take lightly or to make assumptions about. Especially when the reasons, evidence and timing of the missile launch were either unpredictable, unknown or unclear.

  2. It is crazy that things like this happen but we do know is that North Korea is insane and that it could be true that they shot intentionally. But also I do agree that it could've been an accident, but I honestly don't really think its an accident.

  3. I think this event is terrible whether it was an accident or on purpose. If it was an accident then I feel that North Korea should be more careful with their weapons. If it was not an accident by North Korea, I wouldn't be surprised.
