Grace Biltz | NASA's exploration rocket

NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, has a plan for a new exploration rocket. It is called the Space Launch System rocket and Orion capsule. The 322-foot SLS rocket is equipped with a more powerful upper stage to boost its launch capabilities. Not since the space shuttle has NASA launched a manned aircraft into space.
The Trump administration asked if plans could be moved up to fly astronauts on the new rocket. After consideration, NASA is sticking with its original plan. Exploration Mission-1 will blast off in 2019 (without astronauts). Exploration Mission-2 will launch approximately 2 and a half years later and it will orbit the moon with astronauts on board.

It's great how the government invests in NASA and space exploration. This is a huge event with more advanced technology. It is an exciting adventure and I hope the next generation of space exploration can bring us past the moon.
