London's "Tube" Turns 150! by Madeline Ibarra

London's underground rail system has been transporting people across the city and surrounding areas for years and years. Its a historical part of the city and a part of many Londoners lives. London's oldest underground rail system, The Tube, is celebrating its 150th birthday in 2013. The tube carries over one billion passengers a year. These journeys are made possible by 11 different lines to take and 270 different stations that make around 3.5 million journeys carrying people a day. To celebrate, the rail company is asking its riders to submit pictures, videos, and stories about their favorite rail, memories, or just posing in the station. They are also asking for outsiders around the world to celebrate as well. They ask that you just tell them or send them image of your favorite rail system. to do so, you can hashtag #cnnireport and #tube150 on instagram.

I think that it is a very fun and interactive idea to celebrate the long years that the system has been around. I can imagine the "bond" between this rail and some people because they might have grown up riding it. I hope that the company and this tunnel prosper for another 150 years and so on.
