Emily Shaw Current Event 2

Why is NASA Chasing This Asteroid?

NASA is sending a probe to chase down a potentially dangerous asteroid. It'll take a sample of it a bring it back to Earth. The asteroid may one day collide with Earth. The mission will 'help us understand why we are here, how we are here and how likely it is that this kind of process -- origin and evolution of life -- may have occurred elsewhere in the solar system and even throughout the galaxy.' The mission will also help us to figure out how to stop the asteroid if it were to ever collide with Earth in the future.

The article shows us how much science and technology has improved. It was also written to inform us on what is going on outside of the world as well. This article was very interesting and I think it's amazing how much knowledge scientists can gather  with limited supply on resources to gather.

  2. it's a good thing they discovered the asteroid before any major collisions. but it's very impressive how they can just send a probe and have a sample of the asteroid back.

  3. It is so cool how they have come up with the technology to chase down an asteroid before it could possibly hurt us.
