Andrew Tunell Journalists Detained in Egypt

20 Journalists are going to court in Egypt, for "collaborating with the Egyptians (defendants) and providing them with information, equipment and money, as well as broadcasting false information and rumors to convince the international community that Egypt was undergoing a civil war." Some of the journalist have been held in prison for over a month. Authorities say that the reporter were having meeting with a terrorist organization. One of the Journalists said "We have to stay positive. It's completely crazy and the situation in the country is making things worse -- the bombings, the assassinations. The government is trying to save face, but they're making things worse. They're not thinking rationally." There is a lot of evidence against the accusations made by the Egyptian government, but many suspect they will still be convicted.

I think this is a really sad event, it is fairly obvious that these people weren't working with terrorists, it is most likely that the government is just persecuting them because of what they reported against the government. Im glad we have freedom of speech in america so this won't happen.

  1. It frustrates me when people can't speak their opinion like this! Especially if they have to go to court!
