Creative Cairo - Max Gaddis

After the 2011 Egyptian Revolution, more and more artists have taken their artwork to the streets. Street art is making otherwise bleak landscapes seem interesting and colorful. It makes the very fabric of the city seem like it's telling a story. Now that graffiti is more accepted and not immediately covered up, street artists are feeling more free to express their thoughts. Graffiti isn't the only type of art that is taking place now, dance is also becoming more popular now that citizens want to express their freedom. So is poetry, and music, and writing or telling stories. Citizens are enjoying their newfound freedom wholeheartedly and joyfully.

I think this is really good for Egypt and Cairo in particular. I feel that they have been hushed enough and now is their time to shine.

  1. I completely support these artists expressing themselves in the middle of the streets but I hope the things like graffiti are done in designated areas and do not contribute to vandalizing.
