A German man studying Arabic in Yemen was kidnapped on his way home a few days ago. Efforts are being put into place to ensure the man gets released okay. Kidnapping has been a big issue in Yemen because tribes often hold them up for ransom. Checkpoints have been put in place near where the kidnapping occurred.
Yemen, to me, now seems like a place that I would be scared to walk around in. I guess, for that matter, any place would be scary if you walked around at night. There are lots of people out there, and a lot of them are creeps and kidnappers. This man probably should have been more careful about staying out so late, and Yemen needs to enforce laws against kidnapping to lower the rates of it happening.
