Arrested teen was possibly going to join ISIS
by Adrianna Martinez
Mohammed Hamzah Khan, 19 was arrested at O'Hare International Airport and was accused by authorities of trying to assist ISIS. Before this happened he wrote a three page letter to his parents of his plan to join ISIS and he tried to persuade his parents to join him. He also warned them not to tell anyone about his plan because it could jeopardize the safety of ISIS and his family. The authorities searched Mohammed's room and found papers supporting ISIS and drawings of the black ISIS flag. The teenager made his first court appearance this Monday and he could face 15 years in prison and a 250,000 fine.
I believe this situation is very serious because this makes me wonder how many other Americans are working with ISIS. Also I wonder how many other teenagers are being persuaded into helping ISIS because as teenagers we don't think about the consequences and can be easily convinced into doing something that can harm many people. So if many teenagers and young adults are being persuaded to help ISIS they can be a serious threat to the United States.
Talk about a rebellious teen. I agree, this is a serious situation. I still wish the US would do more to defend the homeland.
