White Rhinos near extinction by Vern Blossfeld

Summary: The White Rhino pictured above, named Suni, was found dead Friday in his hut. Because of his death, the White Rhino population of the world is even nearer to extinction than before. He was one of two breeding rhinos left on Earth, and without him it becomes more difficult to breed white rhinos. Conservationists only have one male and two females left that are able to breed. But Ol Pejeta conservationists say they will persevere "in the hope that our efforts will one day result in the successful birth of a northern white rhino calf." If not, the end is near for the White Rhino.
Analysis: It's admirable that the Ol Pejeta conservationists are so determined to save the species. I hope that their efforts and the lives of the Rhinos will not be in vain, and that the population increases. If not, it's very likely they will be extinct within the next ten years. This relates to World History because it is an issue of an entire animal species round the world dying out.

  1. That's a terrible thing to think about any kind of species dying out. What caused his death? Why are they so needed (clearly they are because they're extinct)? Hopefully, all goes smoothly and that Ol Pejeta is successful.
