Three American Still Missing in Northern Mexico - Sophia Davison

For the past two weeks, no word of the three missing Americans has been received, and a worried Raquel Alvarado has been helplessly waiting for some sign of her children. Alvarado states that her daughter and two sons were visiting their father in El Control, a small town near Matamoros, Mexico, right on the Texas-Mexico border. On October 13, witnesses were said to have seen armed men, supposedly part of the Hercules police group that focuses on protecting the mayor of Matamoros, take Alvarado's children. Yet no word has been heard for the past two weeks, causing immense worry and consideration of the actual safety of our borders with Mexico. Alvarado has been responding well to the news inquiries, despite the duress she's been under.
'"The worst thing going through my mind is that I possibly won’t get to see my sons again and my daughter,” she told Action 4 News recently."'                                                                      Because the seizure was so sudden and 'hushed up', there are no official records of the event that the we have had access to, and therefore no knowledge of the situation. Unfortunately this puts the the U.S. in and uncomfortable position of ignorance, and most certainly will lead to questioning over the government's control of our safety, and the relations we have with Mexico currently. We can only hope that those missing are safe, and that the U.S. will soon have an awareness of the happenings of October 13.

  2. I agree, this is tragic. And I think people are right to think that the government has a lack of control over our safety. If something like this can get past them, what else can?

  4. Where is the father during all of this? What does he have to say about the situation or could he be any help? The situation is horrible and I feel a lot more could be done.
