On Saturday February 18, Donald Trump claimed that Sweden was going through major issues and difficulties due to their immigration policies. He claimed this was an issue while discussing his travel ban at a Trump rally in Florida. Many were confused when he told them to look at "what's happening last night in Sweden" and he later tweeted that this is a reference to something he saw on Fox News. He also claimed that "They took in large numbers. They're having problems like they never thought possible." Later some White House officials claimed that he was simply referring to the increase and spike of crime despite him telling his followers "last night in Sweden". The Swedish Embassy later responded to his claims saying, "We look forward to informing the US administration about Swedish immigration and integration policies."
Personally, I'm just surprised Kellyanne Conway didn't appear on CNN and claim that his statement was more "alternative facts", but we should really be nicer to Sweden. No one will forget how compassionate they were to us after the devastating Bowling Green Massacre.
