Three girls in Arizona were held captive by their own mother and stepfather in three separate bedrooms for months with only blaring music and once a day meals to accompany them. The parents had an elaborate system of audio monitors and alarm systems hooked up all over the house, they also controlled what music the girls listened to. They spied on them with the in-home security system, changing the music at random times to terrible, tasteless music, or, if they seemed to show an inclination to the music, they would change it to static or "white noise". The girls hadn't bathed or used a proper restroom in months. When police found them they were covered in grit, grime, and traces of feces, and urine. At least one of the girls had been sexually assaulted by her stepfather too. The 12 and 13 year old escaped one day and ran over to a neighbor's house, who then called the police. When police arrived, they found the 17 year old locked in her bedroom that had towels stuffed under the door so the parents didn't have to hear their own tasteless music while going about their business in the house. The girls had used their closets as bathrooms in order to relieve themselves because they weren't allowed out of the rooms. They were fed meals once a day. A reporter was told by the grandmother that the girls were exaggerating their story because the parents didn't like the girls to be out in the neighborhood and they were homeschooled anyways. The mother was charged with 3 counts of kidnapping, child abuse(physical) and child abuse(emotional), one for each of the girls, and the step-father for the same plus one count of sexual abuse with a person younger than 15. The police did not charge him with more because he already had enough crimes to go to jail and stay there for a good long time.

This is terrible. I am a musician and a girl and I think its terrible to go without shower or good music for more than one day. I wonder what happened to them when they were on their periods, how they brushed their teeth, how they entertained themselves, if they knew what they looked like, if they knew how many months they had been kept there, if they wondered when school started, if they thought about how halloween and thanksgiving and christmas would go, when they would ever be able to breathe fresh air, why their parent and step-parent were doing this to them. I would hate to be in a locked room, on my birthday/halloween/thanksgiving, on my period, not being able to take a shower, not being able to relieve myself, listening to tasteless music or static all day long.
