This week in France, designers everywhere remembered the amazing fashion show that originally happened November 1973;which contained French and American designers alike. The event was thought up by Eleanor Lambert who wanted to raise money for the restoration for Versailles. It was such a hit that after a few years it became known as 'Grand Divertissement a' Versailles'. It has been said it had an amazing original cast, and that each designer presented 10 extravagant gowns complete with props, grand entrances, and a full orchestra. It depends on who you ask, but most people agree that "The Americans stole the show" and most think that because of these fashion shows American fashion is what it is today.
I thought this was pretty interesting because I love old clothes, its one of the main reasons I watch "old" movies! And I kinda wish fashion was what it used to be, but sometimes change is good. I just wish we could bring back the old classy looks from the 40s-70s.
