Recentley, chilean astronomers have discovered what they call the Boomerang Nebula. The observance was through a telescope installed 5 thousand meters high in the Atacama desert by a joint effort by European, Asian, and North American agencies. This nebula is in the Centaurus constellation and about 5 thousand light years away from Earth. "The Boomerang Nebula is a relatively young planatary nebula, which is a glowing shell of ionized gas ejected from the outer layers of a sun like star in its final stages." At the moment it is expanding itself at an intense rate using up its energy to do so; this is causing the nebula to be colder than the temperatures around it. The temperature is -458 degrees Fahrenheit, making it the coldest thing in the known universe.
Another score for science! I love that humans never stop finding new things about our world and others. Discoveries show that we are far from knowing all, and we will never know all. Also, I like that this discovery was not made by Americans or Russians for they are usually the ones who do when it is space related. At least, to the mainstream public those two are the most associated countries with space discoveries. Its time for space study to spread.source:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/space/10416467/Telescope-finds-coldest-place-in-the-universe.html
This is so cool! I love that the universe will always have things for us to discover!
ReplyDeleteThis is so exciting can't wait to see what else is in store!
ReplyDeleteBazinga! Thats pretty cool.. iguess we will never find everything before we die out, things are constantly being made.
