Fat Tax, By: Jon Cope

Fat Tax, By: Jon Cope

Summary:
According to CNN's article, Mexico's senators have agreed of a new law to be enforced. The law states that there shall be an 8% tax charge on all unhealthy food items with high-calorie intake. As you may know, Mexico is one of the countries ranked with a high level of obesity among their nation; this might be due to the fact that many people that many Mexican's live in a state of poverty, or lack enough money to buy healthy and expensive snacks, fruits, or vegetables.

Analysis:
I think that obesity is a serious issue, and it can also cause major illnesses or health issues. I am glad that the country of Mexico has come to the realization of this, and that hopefully raising taxes on unhealthy goods and treats will lower the obesity rate, and make a healthy country!
