A painting of two Tahitian girls by Paul Gauguin has been sold for $300 MILLION dollars. It is the MOST expensive work of art ever sold in the entire existence of humanity. The title Nafea Faa Ipoipo or When Will You Marry Me? was painted in 1892. This painting had been owned by a Swiss collector but unconfirmed reports say that it was sold to a museum in Qatar. The small oil painting beat a work sold by Paul Cezanne which sold for a reported 158m(euros).
This shows that people are willing to pay any amount of money to keep the art acknowledgement alive. Well, to do so, one must be very wealthy and have admiration for the arts like the paralyzed guy from the movie Untouchables.
