Its Happened Again by Kera Mickus

A 20 year old man was found in association with 72 murders in Mexico. Pablo Juan Vazquez was caught on October 8, but the arrest was not announced until Thursday. He was arrested along with another female, Nancy Ortiz, whom police said was supposedly selling drugs to and or with Vazquez. The pair was caught with several baggies of weed and also several packets of cocaine. Fear of revenge or kickback from the cartels involved meant that officials kept details on the down low, not even disclosing what gang the suspect is a part of. Apparently, he young man confessed to 45 killings, and has been implicated in 34 other slayings between 2011 and this year.

What surprises most people is the fact that officials are not surprised, or even moved to take down these warring gangs and gangsters. It’s sickening to know that in OUR country, we do everything to prevent it, but when people immigrate here illegally, we try to keep them out. I feel for the people who have to wake up every day and worry for their life, or worse; wake up and miss the life of someone they lost. The people of Mexico are almost soldiers – everyday they wake up and fight another group, essentially living in the battle zone. But I think it’s horrible that they are fight themselves.
