A woman 17 weeks pregnant, walked into a hospital because of back pain. Doctors examined her and said that she was having a miscarriage that would end in a couple of hours. As the hours continued, she remained in terrible pain. Her husband asked the doctors to carry out an abortion to end her pain. The doctors refused, because it was against the law. Savita Halappanavar died in the hospital, which led to protests and debates on whether Ireland should make abortions legal.
This is important because it could affect whether or not the U.S. makes abortion legal or not, because of this article. This could also affect the way that citizens view abortions. Not only affecting U.S. citizens, this most importantly affects Ireland's citizens and how they view abortion.

Although I don't support abortion I think that it was necessary for the woman to have an abortion just because ti took her life.
ReplyDeleteI think it is wrong to deny someone of an abortion if the result is her death.
ReplyDeleteI read this article while looking for something to write my blog on. I feel terrible for this woman's husband and family. There is no reason for her to die - the baby she was carrying was already dead. Religious beliefs should not override common sense and compassion. There needs to be a separation between religion and government.
