The Government Shutdown: Americans on the edge by Angelica Fischer

On the third day of the government showdown, people are starting to feel the impact. For example, a cancer patient has to wait for a clinical trail. Usually it could it could take just a couple days for a trial but since the government shutdown, she has to wait longer. This is hard for her because the wait could be life threatening. Also a teenager who will serve for the AmeriCorps has to put her life on hold because AmeriCorps may not have the funds to open up the Winter 2014 program. This all depends on how long the government will be shutdown for.

Many others are affected by this and some even got there jobs put on hold and aren't getting paid. I think the government shutdown might hurt many peoples families and could even kill someone. Like the girl who has cancer, what if she has to wait a long time for the trail and waits too long. Then her time runs out to fight the cancer. Hopefully the government will only be shutdown for a couple more days and not months or weeks.

  1. It is so dumb that the government can't pull itself together to save a little girls life. I mean who elected these people?

    1. I agree, I think people 13+ should be able to vote, because at a young age, most kids have great morals. A children can tell a huge difference of what's right and what's not.

    2. The idea of 13-year-olds voting sounds interesting, but some young teens haven't had time to really develop their own political insights and would be too easily influenced by how their parents voted.

  3. i think its ridiculous that the government shut down has affected healthcare, and i dont think kids under 18 should be able to vote, because honestly we don't know that much about politics yet.
