Adapting to the Cities by: Jules Stowe

It is pretty well known that the silver cities are quickly taking over the lands, and its also well know that in many cases this is driving the animals who use to inhabit the area out. But is it well known that these animals may actually be evolving to better survive in the cities? There have been many accounts of raccoons learning how to unhook the lids to garbage cans, to get their daily meal. Some of these accounts are simple, like squirrels learning how to swiftly run along power lines instead of trees. Some are as clever as groups of stray dogs letting the cutest of the pack lead so they have a better chance of humans giving them scraps. While these changes are helping the animals i the short term, it has raised a lot of scientists eyebrows. Many are worried that this is a sign that we aren't considering the well being of the animals on this planet, and our actually doing them a large disservice.

This is very important because it really opens our eyes to the living conditions of these animals. For a species to adapt in such away that these animals are that has to mean that a significant amount of the species died at the hands of whatever they are adapting to. Survival of the fittest doesn't work without taking cuts. I think it is wonderful that these animals are using everything to their advantage, and prospering because it but i also incredibly sad that they have to do this. if this continues we wont even have the ones that are adapting.
