7 New Earths by: Jules Stowe

In recent Astronomical news, 7 Earth-sized planets have been discovered in a not so distant solar system. What is stunning most Astronomers is the fact that all of them are a safe distance from their central star, meaning they could very plausibly support life. The Sun there planets circle is named TRAPPIST-1. Belgium Astrophysicist, Michael Gillon, was one of the first to discover the planets, but originally only found three. The Sun is a lot closer to the planets, but is significantly cooler, allowing the planets and moons to be habitable. This solar system so similar to our only lies 36 light-years away, and can e found in the Aquarius constellation.

This is overwhelmingly relevant because a discovery this big could mean the human race is finally going to expand out reach in the universe more permanently. Since these planets are roughly the size of ours, and a safe distance from the sun, they would be almost perfect for outer space colonies. This is a big step for mankind, and may in fact be the key to a stronger spacial comprehension. Earth is dying, and as sad and unfortunate it is, it cant be ignored any longer. This is our chance to start a new.
