Faith Barnes

In Tucson, officials ,from the Tucson school district, gathered one day to talk about what to do about the reduction of the school budget. Their choices were either to close down some of the schools and make the class size bigger, or keep all the schools but have less money to hire good teachers. Meanwhile, the Mexican-American program that helps struggling Hispanics and been dismantled because of the politics of its curriculum. Arizona has made it illegal to have lessons that cause one race to resent another or to unite that race. However, they are now finding out, that the Mexican-American program helped  the kids that were enrolled there. They did better then their peers that were not in the program. This article was written by Fernanda Santoes. It appears like she sides with the program and wishes it were not dismantled. Programs that benefit and empower minority students should not be cut for political reasons.

  1. I agree! They shouldn't close down a program that actually helps students, they probably ought to reinforce it instead of this.

  2. Why are they trying to cut out programs for schools, that are needed? And they want us to have a good education, they are hurting our education. We are the future, and all they are doing is hurting it.
