Many people would believe that religious leaders would be prone to making illegal decisions and be put in jail or worse. We all want to believe that it's true, but everything has a dark side. In Africa every year thousands among thousands of elephants and rhinos are slaughtered for their ivory tusks. On Friday The World Wildlife Fund announced their partnership with a wide range of religious groups- many of which are partly to blame for the killings. At this announcement, they uncovered a pile of burned confiscated ivory from 1989. Leaders from Christian,Muslim, And Hindu religions all grasped their hands together and prayed. "We are the ones who are driving God's creatures to extinction," said Martin Palmer. Mr.Palmer is the secretary-general of the Britain-based alliance. Later Mr.Palmer also said, "We are the ones who can change the way Africa works." Many poachers are escalating their assult on these animals for ivory, and the animals cannot survive Asia's high-dollar demands anymore.

It is terrible how the people who say they are helping protect these animals are behind some of the hunting and illegal ivory exporting!
